Keely Finkelstein

keely-finkelstein-thumbKeely Finkelstein is an astronomy researcher and educator with the Department of Astronomy and McDonald Observatory at the University of Texas at Austin. Keely is an undergraduate astronomy lecturer, lead for Education Services in the Department of Astronomy, and lead of the K-12 Teacher Programs at McDonald Observatory. Her work includes preparing and presenting teacher professional development programs, designing new materials for student field experiences and classroom use, designing new visitor center exhibits and experiences, and working with teachers, informal science organizations, and state science groups across Texas. Keely currently serves on the board of directors for the Informal Science Education Association (ISEA) of Texas, the AAS Education Prize Committee, and in the past has served as an affiliate representative on the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT) board. Keely has published more than 20 papers on science and astronomy education. She received her B.S. in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Washington in 2002, and her PhD in Physics (Astronomy emphasis) from Arizona State University in 2008.
